"hexworthy ward"

About: Derriford Hospital

ok my partner has been in and out of hexworthy now quite a few times and have never really had reason to complain. the nurses brilliant . even though a couple of them seem to do no more or no less then they have to. seems to have a attitude near the end of there shift to leave it to the nightshift and that ruins it for the genuine nurses that do work hard. for example 4 nurses stood around reception desk yapping about nothing that concerned there work and even though my partner had pressed her buzzer she was sat on a commode for a few minutes short of a hour. and they were ignoring the buzzers . this isn't the doing of all nurses though and its a shame that they got to pick up the slack for those that cant be bothered. on a different note the girls bringing round the food and drinks are excellent nothings to much bother for them and they really do deserve some praise for there helpfulness and politeness as does the cleaners .a few points need sorting out and this isn't the fault of the nurses but more management in hexworthy. 1 people come in with meds they take at home at precise times. in hexworthy trying to get your meds is hell they are everlasting having drs changing the drug charts and thus leading to regular medications being missed out and that really isn't on 2 too many times people are left for long periods on commodes 3 buzzers being ignored meaning some patients who cannot see to there own toilet needs are having accidents and this not doing much for there dignity. 4 if nurses cant be bothered to answer peoples calls and would rather sit about yapping then let someone more dedicated do the job and stop ruining hexworthy wards reputation for them nuses that do step up to the plate 4

Dear Mr Crossman

Thank you for your posting and your considered comments following your partner's recent admission to Hexworthy Ward. I am sorry that you found some of the nurses did not respond promptly to call bells and I agree that this type of attitude reflects poorly on the nurses you also mentione who were diligent in their duty of care to patients. Thank you for recognising the good work that takes place and please can I reassure you that I will inform the senior nursing personnel of your feedback.

I was pleased to note your positive comments about the housekeeping team and rest assured, I will make sure that SERCO are made aware of your praise for the service delivered.

Thank you for posting your observations on Patient Opinion.

Kind regards

Mary
