My father suffers with severe COPD has just spent almost five weeks in hospital fighting an infection, pneumonia and dangerously high levels of CO2. He was treated in Bay A of Ward 5, the respiratory unit at the Alexandra Hospital, Redditch.
I cannot fault the Alexandra Hospital for the care they've shown my father over the past 4 years. However, during his most recent stay, I was gobsmacked at the amazing one on one nursing care he received in Bay A, Ward 5.
The staff were all wonderful. They were knowledgeable of respiratory diseases, they were patient, understanding and only an arms length away at all times. My father was so poorly I didn't think he'd pull through, but he did and I cannot thank the nursing staff and doctors enough.
My father said to me "I feel safe in here" so if you suffer with respiratory problems and you feel anxious or frightened....please don't be. You will be in very safe hands.
"My father felt safe"
