My wife Margaret Ecclestone had to visit A & E for an X-Ray on Monday 16th August. She was collected by ambulance and transferred to A & E. Excellent response time and the Ambulance staff were both helpful and polite. They collected my wife's Medication forms including a new prescription written by her G.P and gave them to A & E staff on arrival. They were placed in a red folder. We spent about 4 hours in the department and at all times we were treated by polite and competent staff. The overall treatment was excellent, but there were two items of concern. 1. When my wife was taken to the X-ray department on a bed trolley the nurse advised us that we were on the wrong type of bed trolley for them to X-Ray her left hip. We returned to the A & E department and a correct type of trolley was located and my wife transferred to it. However the porter was now called to another job, and we were in A & E for almost an hour before a different porter took us back to X-Ray. O.K now. X-Ray over returned to A & E for results and discharge. 2. No breakage of hip and quickly ready to leave, but the prescription forms were not returned until I asked for them, and a staff member located them in the red folder. Had I not remembered them I think that I would have been contacting A & E this morning to ask them if they could locate them or asking my G.P. for another copy. Stafford can be proud of the diligence of its doctors and staff, but I think that the trolley incident was a mistake that could be be easily avoided. Thank you Stafford. My best wishes for the future. Regards Brian Ecclestone.
