"Care for PTSD in Mental Health"

About: Lincolnshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust

(as a relative),

My daughter was treated for PTSD (Post-traumatic Stress Disorder) by Lincolnshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust. She was seen every two to three months for treatment and was seen four or five times only.

She had flash backs, nightmares and was scared to travel by train or car. She was discharged in exactly the same state as she started treatment and much to our shock, the discharge letter stated she had only witnessed the accident she was being treated for - she had in fact been involved in the accident.

As treatment for PTSD involves discussing in detail the traumatic experience that has caused PTSD one wonders what kind of treatment she had actually been given.

NICE guidelines for treating PTSD sate you should be seen at least once a week for 8 -12 sessions - this bears no resemblance to what my daughter received and she suffered for years before eventually being treated more successfully.
