I had a persistent pain in the chest, thinking it could be my heart I called an Ambulance and was taken to North Middlesex Hospital. What a revelation. Gone was the decrepit buildings with their cockroaches (1980's) here was a beautifully clean building. With the minimum of fuss I was quickly installed in a cubicle in A&E and tests commenced. Later I was moved to the Acute Assessment Unit. Blood tests were taken, X-rays etc. and the waiting for the results began. After a total of 16 hours I was released to return home, the tests did not show any damage to the heart. In the header I said "possible time waster", could the pain have been indigestion. I will never know, but I am sure I chose correctly in dialling 999. The staff were quiet in their bustling about, no raised voices, efficient in taking the blood for testing, ensuring I was kept advised all the time. The Doctors too were equally efficient in examining and advising what they intended and the results when received. A very memorable visit. Michael Pass.
"A possible time waster."
