I came to a&e knowing that my appointment for removal and re-site of my ICD unit was in the pipe line, but things had taken a turn for the worse and the unit needed urgent attention. the instant action and response, despite the bank holiday, was beyond that i had expected. i was soon in ward 35 and felt safe, the doctor response was without undue delay, and the removal of the device under a general was i think the next day. i was able to request the doctor, whom i trusted, being the Dr who had fitted my first device in 2005. having a general anaesthetic with my heart condition was an act of faith on my part, in the man. the nursing care and attention i received there after was beyond good, at my age the kindness and courtesy are important
