"Feeling confused."

About: Royal Stoke University Hospital

My husband was admitted for a lung resection operation to remove a tumor in his upper R lobe. He was admitted to the ward from clinic on Monday 9.6 .14 at 4.30, we sat in the day room until he was shown to a bed at 8pm. The following day he went to theatre at 12.30 pm ,his operation was successful, the tumor was removed and no cancer was found. At 8pm he was taken to intensive care. Weds morning he was taken back to the ward. Thurs night drains drugs ect were taken out. Friday morning at 11.45 I received a phone call to say he was being discharged and I could collect him from the discharge lounge. When my husband ask ed where the discharge lounge was the nurse replied I do not know ask at main entrance reception. My husband was then given his lunch in his room ,but asked to go to the dinning room for a cup of tea. When he arrived at the dinning room he was told he had not got time for a drink they were ready to take him to the discharge lounge. When you think just over two day before my husband was in intensive care ,to be pushed out in this way with No discharge letter ,or being told what happens after discharge is absolutely disgraceful. He did point out that he had as yet not been to the toilet , he was told he was still going and had to wait in the discharge lounge for his drugs.I picked my husband up with no drugs at 1pm. We then had a phone call at 5.30pm to say his drugs had arrived at the discharge lounge. If we had not fetched him he would of been sitting in the discharge lounge for five and a half hours. I think the care and respect given to my husband was disgraceful.
