"6 hours in A & E !"

About: Doncaster Royal Infirmary

Having had a similar experience before, I knew that my ankle was broken and therefore went to A & E in the evening of 11.6.14. It seems that the department had gone 'live' on a new computer system (Symphony) that day and it was this that was blamed for the delays. Despite the fact that the displays told us that 98% of patients were treated or admitted within 4 hours I actually spent 6 hours there. One problem I noticed is that the clinicians who call people from the waiting room do not do so clearly. They tend to stay near the doors into the department and it is very difficult to hear if one's name is being called. Altogether a very poor experience.

We are sorry to hear that you experienced some delays with our services and would like to reassure you that we will pass on your comments to the relevant department so that they can look at ways of improving this area. There are of course times when departments are very busy, but we will look into these matters to ensure that any room for improvement is made. Thank you.
