"elderly care"

About: University Hospital Of North Tees

My mam has just left hospital after a grilling 4 weeks. Sad to say whilst she was in she had a serious fall in the toilet and ended up been sent down for a ct scan which I know is stranded procedure to make sure there is no internal bleeding. I don't hold it against the member of staff for my mam falling because I know how fiercely I dependant my mam is. However, if the pull cord was closer to the toilet my mam wouldn't of had the fall. Yes the cord is suppose to being moved closer to the seat but this should of been put into the correct place anyway. My solution would be also to have the lower part of the walls cushioned. Also at the weekends the staffing levels are a disgrace;(get more nurses on the ward). Last but least The Pharmacy or (joke shop) who are they kidding! it doesn't take 7 1/2 hrs to put a nomad system up Put me in charge of that department and I'll have the work load done in half the time, they are just too lazy or are missing there self confidence to do the job they trained for.

We're very sorry you feel let down by your mum's recent experience in our elderly care ward. We would like to assure you that our staffing levels are decided by the matron of each ward area, depending on how many patients are on our wards and how dependant they are. We would welcome the opportunity to discuss your concerns. If you wish to do this, please contact patientexperience@nth.nhs.uk. Thank you for taking the time to leave a comment on NHS Choices.
