I was so glad to be referred to Papworth in 2002. I was treated like a human being.
At Bedford Hospital chest clinic (2000 - 2002) the admin staff, even though I had been told by the consultant to come straight to the clinic so I could be seen straightaway as an emergency when ill, was made to wait until the end of the clinic by which I time it was found I was suffering from pneumonia and I was very sick indeed. This happened on more than one occasion.The women on the desk seemed to think she knew more than the medical staff.
Eventually after being sent to Papworth for a 2nd opinion it was found I had Addisons Disease and it wasn't my asthma causing the problem at all.
