My mother has been under the care of the Oncologist and his team for the last three months. Every three weeks she sees the consultant and attends the Sunflower Suite for her treatment. The care and attention she has received from the doctors, nurses, research sisters, healthcare assistants and volunteers in the unit has been excellent. Recently, my mother unfortunately had to attend A & E for urgent treatment and from arrival in the unit to her initial assessment she only had to wait 15 minutes. The triage nurse, A & E doctors, nurses, healthcare assistants, porter, x-ray staff, plus the on call oncology nurse specialist and medical doctors, gave my mother the upmost care, attention and respect from arrival to discharge. This is all the more amazing, given that I witnessed staff working non-stop and on occasions right through without a break, in order that their patients were attended to. As an ex nurse of the Trust myself, I feel that the service my mother received at Queens is exactly how people should be treated and I would like to say, "Very well done".
