"Unprofessional service from dental parctice"

About: Great Dunmow Dental Care

(as the patient),

I visited Great Dunmow Dental Care in early 2014. Despite declaring that I could only make an appointment at 6pm, the receptionist tried to get me to come at 5. 45pm. I repeated that I could only do 6pm and she agreed. The day before the appointment I received a text message reminding me of my appointment the next day at 5. 45pm, so they had basically ignored my request. Worse still, on my way to the appointment at approximately 5. 15pm they called me to ask whether I could make it any sooner. This whole episode made me very uncomfortable as the overriding impression was that they simply wanted to get home as soon as they could. This was confirmed when for my filling the dentist did not use anaesthetic (and did not give me the choice). I assume that because of the time taken for the anaesthesia to take effect the dentist wanted to get on with it so decided to start drilling. She told me to raise a hand if I was in pain and sure enough it was agonizing so I raised my hand, only for her to continue regardless!

When calling to cancel my next appointment (as I had decided not to use the surgery again) I was greeted by someone who had an appalling telephone manner and I could hear a television in the background. I assume that the phone was diverted to a mobile answered by a family member as they were very unprofessional. I had to spell out my name three times to this person! They certainly do divert to a mobile as I have called in the morning during their published opening hours to be told that "we're on a mobile so will look your details up when we get in". Again, very amateurish.
