"a and e department"

I accompanied my93 year old mother from her care home after a fall on sat 7 June to a and e. We were there for 7 and ahalf hours. Her bloods were taken and lost so had to be taken again. She was discharged into the care of the ambulance service atmidnight !!!! I can only describe the experience as horrendous. Surely we can provide a better service for sick people. I defy anyone to admit that this service is correct. I thought we lived in a civilised country? Would it be possible for a senior manager to spend a few hours in a and e and then tell me that they would like their mother to be treated there
