"Patient transport"

About: Lister Hospital

My beautiful 92 year old end stage dementing Mother needed a pacemaker check. She is looked after by me in a hospital bed at home and for the first time, I could not take her. I requested an ambulance with a 2 man pick up and my sister to accompany. The team that attended were respectful, reassuring, kind and gentle with my Mother and what I envisaged to be traumatic for her, was nothing of the kind. During transportation, she was constantly reassured and spoken too in a respectful appropriate manner. The team took her and my sister to Cardiology and waited whilst she was booked in, the desk coordinator on return, was fantastic in allocating a quick pick up and similarly the crew were kind and gentle in their treatment of my Mother. Thank you and congratulations on offering an exemplary service.

Many thanks for your very kind feedback, but we have to make a small confession here - the patient transport service, although paid for by the Trust, is run by a contractor called Medical Services. But we do set the standard of care and compassion that we expect Medical Services to deliver for our patients and it sounds that they got it just right for you, your sister - but especially your mother. We hope and trust that the service that you found the service provided by our cardiology team was equally good.
