"i liked nothing. the whole experience ..."

About: Burnley General Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

i liked nothing. the whole experience was a disrace.

What could be improved

Everything.

1.try finishing the hospital before sending women from blackburn hospital to burnely.

2.buy some basic equiptment-bins! women shouldn't have to walk around trying to find a bin with dirty sanitary wear in hand.(only then to be told the bins are 'on order'.

3. Dr's bed side manner. being talked about like you are not there is not acceptable and a sympathetic ear for women who have just found out the lost their baby wouldnt go a miss either.

4. staff training. i feel the advise given to me was an example of misconduct. burnley hospital staff were happy for a pregnant women to bleed heavily and endure pain for at least a week before going into the hospital.

5.directions to the ward. more signs are clearly needed to prevent more people getting lost.

6. clean up! toilets-blood on seats and blocked/backed up loos? remind me why i pay my national insurance?

Anything else?

I contacted blackburn hospital due to bleeding (i was pregnant). they told me i now had to contact burnley as all of the womens services had moved there. the new womens hospital.

What a joke. i contacted burnley who brushed me off and said if i continue to bleed heavily for more than a week THEN i should go and see them! The very next day i found myself being taken to blackpool victoria (which is near my work) with pain and i was still bleeding. there it was discovered my baby had died. how the staff at burnely didnt think my bleeding and pain was a sign something was wrong, astonishes me. blackpool were not able to treat me on that day and so was given a letter and told to go home and speak with the staff again at burnely.i contacted burnley and even though i was in severe pain at this point i was told to make an appt for the following morning at 10.30 am. while waiting for my appointment, i had a full misscarriage and lost my baby down the toilet. traumatised i went to my 10.30 am appointment where i was asked if i had 'brought the passed product with me'.by passed product they meant my baby. the ward took ages to find due to a lack of signs-i even ended up with another family trying to find the same ward. once on the ward it was clear they were not ready for patients. No beds, no bins and only 2 staff to be found. i feel i was brushed off over the phone initially because they know they have not got the facilities to care for patients. the first loo i went to was backed up and blocked with human waste and tissue, the next had blood on the seat and the 3rd had no bin for my sanitary towel. The female dr that examained me, was heavy handed and after completing an internal scan, performed an internal exam without warning while i was still on the bed-she hurt me. she then continued to talk to the nurse like i wasnt there and then just declared you've had a misscarriage, and left. no aftercare/support was offered. Thank you NHS for a truely traumatic experience
