For St Albans people this hospital is a nightmare. My Mother is here and the nursing staff are rushed off their feet. She should now have moved on to St Albans Elderly Care unit, but there are no beds it is full. My Father is disgusted by the way she is left and not got out of bed but left in her own faeses without a pad - even though she is incontinent, she should not be left in a mess. The Nursing staff are over loaded. There are not the resourses for the overflow of St Albans people. I am totally disgusted with the way us St Albans people are expected to visit our family and friends who have been shoved into Hemel Hempstaead or Watford of all places. Then, because Harpenden Elderly Care Unit has been closed, there are no spaces for her to go to St Albans Elderly Care Unit. My Mother was put into Gossams End Berkhamsted of all places and was sent to Hemel Hospital as she had a blockage in her stomach, which has since cleared itself. How is my 82 year old father or anyone who does not drive be expected to travel all this way. WE WANT OUR CITY HOSPITAL BACK . US ST ALBANS PEOPLE HAVE HAD ENOUGH. If my Mother is not moved to St Albans elderly Care Unit or home to my Dad where the room is ready for her with a hoist, bed and comode- (but awaiting a care package to be arranged), in the next few days, I have no alternative but to go to the media about this story. The nursing staff are doing their best, but there are not enough of them for the number of patients. They are overloaded. There is no hoist in the ward. WE WANT HER BACK IN ST ALBANS FOR HER AND MY DAD TO HAVE A QUALITY OF LIFE FOR THE LITTLE TIME SHE HAS LEFT. She has a cancer in her lower bowel which the radio therapy has left her doubly incontinent and is recovering from a broken hip back in early December.
