"Happy with care for my husband at Wythenshawe Hospital, Greater Manchester"

About: Wythenshawe Hospital / Older people's healthcare

(as a staff member posting for a patient/service user),

As a full time carer of my husband, who was blind and had vascular dementia, I looked after him in our home for as long as I could. When he eventually started to deteriorate, it happened very quickly and the carers who supported us at home, during the night, noticed that his worsening condition was taking it's toll on me.

It was at this point that his carers and Social Worker recommended some respite care and he was placed in Ringway Muse, a care home for two months.

During his time at Ringway Muse he had many falls and was taken to the stroke ward at Wythenshawe Hospital. They were brilliant there and they even let me stay overnight.

Sadly, he was going downhill at this point and, at my request, the hospital let him stay there instead of going back into the care home.

They were really good. I can't fault them.
