"Another positive experience at Southend Hospital"

About: Southend Hospital

My stay was on the Eastwood Ward for a minor surgery. The nurses were so friendly, especially my named nurse who was looking after me. I was terrified at having to have my first general anaesthetic but she really reassured me that I would be fine and even held my hand until I fell asleep when I went down to the anaesthetic room. The anaesthetist was amazing, so reassuring and as I was a very nervous patient he talked me through everything he was doing to make me feel at ease. I wouldn't hesitate having a GA again! All in all, a very pleasant experience. The only problem I encountered was that my IV drip hadn't been turned on so it took me longer to feel well enough to get out of bed after surgery but I still went home the same day so it wasn't too much of an issue!

Dear Catherine

Many thanks for telling us about your recent stay and I am really pleased that this was a positive experience for you. We know that coming to hospital is scary at the best of times and it is good to hear that staff kept you at your ease. I will pass your comments to the teams involved who I know will be happy to read them.

I hope you have made a good recovery from your operation and continue to do so.
