What I liked
Not a great deal
What could be improved
When admitting my 84 year old frail mothering law to ward 6a it was nothing but discracefull. After being told she had not got a bed, she and her 86 year old husband was left in what can only be classed as chair store room for 3 hours until 08.30 at night.
When they finally got her admitted it was to another ward at 10.30 at night. Considering she was suppose to have been collected by an ambulance at 09.00 am that morning this is terrible.
My impression of the the staff is that they would rather sit at the desk than attend to a patient.
My motherinlaw is of german origan and is also a little deaf. No time was taken to carefully explain what was going on, she was left confused. I had to explain to her what she had had done after the operation because she could not understand any of the staff.
I notice that the majority of the staff are not of english origin, I can see this would cause a problem with the communication to someone like my motherinlaw who is also not of English origin. She did state she could not understand enybody and she speaks perfect english as she has lived in this country since 1946.
I looked behind the bed in ward 6a and if my bedroom at home was like that I would be ashamed.
Finally I have spoken to many Health service staff since this experiance and all of then said the same comment. It is a horible hospital.
Anything else?
No
