A&E and the other departments should collaborate more closely to the benefit of the patients. Also finding an A&E reception with the floor full of blood on Monday morning (bank holiday) was not the most pleasant and reassuring view, especially if you're pregnant. Gynecology department would want to consider having more forthcoming staff keen to help rather than sending you back to A&E to stand for another 2 h to be reassessed for the 2nd time. (I already had a referral from a&e and was bleeding with risk of ectopic pregnancy). Speaking to patients and using respectful language is another aspect nurses in the gynecology department should improve. (I do understand more refined language than: 'Open your legs like a frog!!') Out of hours treatment and support has not impressed me in any way. I was definitely happier when the consultant and radiologist saw me 2 days later. Patients DO need the hospital at night, weekends and on bank holidays as well, they need a doctor with experience if not a consultant to examine them, not nurses or novice doctors...(with all the respect for them!)
