"Outpatient Clinic"

About: Royal South Hants Hospital

Today I collected my sister from the Red Funnel Terminal, Town Quay and took her to the RSH to see the consultant for her first orthopaedic consultation. We both went in to the consultation room, I was along for moral support as she was dreading the whole thing. We were both completely bowled over by the welcome, non judgemental consultation and overall marvellous easy manner displayed by this orthopaedic surgeon. He totally put my sister at ease, did not humiliate her at any stage regarding her weight, something she was fearing to such an extent she almost cancelled the appointment. He clearly knew all about her recent history and exactly how she was and had been struggling with her painful knee. We came away from the clinic absolutely animated with enthusiasm, something we felt was sadly a positive long lost in the current climate of "slag off the NHS" which seems far too alive and well and living in every form of the media at present! My sister now has confirmation that her knee is indeed "worn out" and surgery will be required, she can at last see an end in sight to her constant pain and immobility. MRI is being arranged as I type and she was assured pre assessment clinic would follow thereafter with a view to joint replacement surgery in the future. So from both of us, a huge thank you for service so far to the consultant and his clinic staff at the RSH Southampton, to say we were impressed is a massive understatement, and now my sister feels she has a better future to look forward to and importantly one offering mobility and freedom from pain. Excellent service thank you
