"Treatment for twisted bowel"

About: Conquest Hospital

During the night of Sun.( 25/5 ) to Mon. ( 26/5 ) my husband was transferred from Eastbourne DGH A & E to the Conquest SAU having been diagnosed as having a twisted bowel . ( This after really impressive treatment at the DGH . Will post review for that ) The ambulance driver made it easy for me to follow in my car as I did not know the way .Both he and his colleague were caring and kind. On arrival we were taken to the SAU where things were equally good despite the late hour. My husband was taken to a bed ( clean and ready ) and within minutes a team of two young doctors were with us . The lead doctor, impressed us both very favourably and the other doctor was equally pleasant with his professional, non-condescending approach ,despite our obvious age ( husband 88 and somewhat confused, myself 80 ). He explained clearly that a simple, short procedure might work and asked for permission to try . I was shown to the waiting room , given a cup of tea , and soon after was told by the doctor - - that all had gone well and that they would keep my husband for the night and that I could go home and come back the next day , as long as no complications arose . Happily , all went well and I collected my husband the next ady after a reassuring call from the senior nurse on duty. The care and respect given to both patient and spouse were very much appreciated.

Thank you for taking the time to provide valuable feedback on your husbands experience and for your positive comments and appreciation of the care you both received from staff in the Surgical Assessment Unit (SAU) at the Conquest Hospital. We are pleased that staff were able to treat your husband's condition successfully. Your comments have been passed onto the senior staff responsible for SAU, they will ensure your feedback is shared with their team members. It is a real morale boost for staff to receive feedback like this from patients and their relatives. It means such a lot to know that the hard work, dedication and commitment of our staff is recognised and valued in this way. It is also very satisfying for staff to hear they have made such a positive difference to a patient. We hope that your husband is continuing to make a good recovery.
