During the night of Sun.( 25/5 ) to Mon. ( 26/5 ) my husband was transferred from Eastbourne DGH A & E to the Conquest SAU having been diagnosed as having a twisted bowel . ( This after really impressive treatment at the DGH . Will post review for that ) The ambulance driver made it easy for me to follow in my car as I did not know the way .Both he and his colleague were caring and kind. On arrival we were taken to the SAU where things were equally good despite the late hour. My husband was taken to a bed ( clean and ready ) and within minutes a team of two young doctors were with us . The lead doctor, impressed us both very favourably and the other doctor was equally pleasant with his professional, non-condescending approach ,despite our obvious age ( husband 88 and somewhat confused, myself 80 ). He explained clearly that a simple, short procedure might work and asked for permission to try . I was shown to the waiting room , given a cup of tea , and soon after was told by the doctor - - that all had gone well and that they would keep my husband for the night and that I could go home and come back the next day , as long as no complications arose . Happily , all went well and I collected my husband the next ady after a reassuring call from the senior nurse on duty. The care and respect given to both patient and spouse were very much appreciated.
