I was admitted as an emergency to the orthopeadic trauma unit via A & E on 22nd May following a fall onto my left hip whilst out walking the previous day. I was attended to promptly in A & E and given pain relief immediately, within a couple of hours I was admitted to the ward and had surgery the next day. I felt fully involved in my care and my questions and concerns were dealt with quickly. During my stay I felt supported by all staff groups, and as a nurse myself I was aware how busy the clinical staff were, however they spent time with myself and other patients and at no time did I feel anything was 'a bother' to them. Physio and OT were also supportive, I was amazed at how quickly I was mobile again. The only negative comment is the food, as a vegetarian there was little choice (only 1 choice at lunch) and the sandwiches at tea time were completely uninspiring.
