"Ward 17"

About: Scunthorpe General Hospital

I cannot fault anything regarding Ward 17 - everyone we came across from all the nursing staff, healthcare assistants, doctors, ladies/gents who brought the tea, the cleaners, even the lady in the bereavement office, were all absolutely wonderful. My Dad was a patient on this Ward for 8 days in April this year before he died. His care was exemplary. He was treated with dignity & respect by everyone & we were always kept fully informed of what was happening & why. Towards the end of his life we were warned the end may be near & although all the family couldn't stay with him 24/7 (for our reasons, not because of any restrictions imposed by the Ward) we were told we could ring at any time day or night to check on him - one of the nurses said if you wake in the night & you're thinking about him, just ring us for an update - this was such a comfort, such a lovely thing to say. Thank you all - words are inadequate to express our gratitude. People are quick to complain but not always to praise so I hope this goes some way to helping any imbalance.

Hello Isabel, thank you so much for taking the time to post your feedback on this site. I've shared your comments with the relevant managers and I'm certain all the staff on ward 17 will be really pleased to hear what a difference their care and compassion made to you and your family at what must have been a very difficult time. Best wishes, Sarah Mainprize
