"Visit to A&E on 23rd May 2014 7.15pm"

About: Basildon University Hospital

Following a fall,by a relative who was visiting us from Staffordshire, who had a very painful and fast swelling arm, we decided to go to A&E at Basildon hospital. On arrival we were greeted by a member of staff who gave us the necessary forms to fill in. We then saw the Triage nurse and were booked in. After waiting a few minutes in the waiting area we were called through to see the medical team who examined the arm and escorted us straight to X Ray dept. Within a few minutes of our arrival the arm had been X rayed and we were on our way back to A&E with the results. It was broken! We went straight to a plaster room and again without delay was attended to, plaster cast applied, and all notes copied for them to take to their local hospital when they get back home. All the staff that we encountered were absolutely brilliant, efficient, courteous, friendly and so very helpful. A real credit to Basildon hospital, which in the past has had such bad criticisms. In no way could I have faulted the treatment we received. The A&E was busy but totally efficient from start to finish. We were home in under 2 hours which we thought was excellent. Well done to all the Staff and thank you.

We are pleased that your recent experience of care within the Emegency Department at Basildon and Thurrock University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust was a good one. We will forward on your kind words to the staff in the department.
