My relative was an inpatient on ward 27 CCU . Was prescribed meds for pain at 2 pm post op... Didn't get them administered till 7 pm because the nurses said they were 'complex ! " She had needed the toilet after her first operation, so I asked the nurse. When I visited 48 hours later, she had only JUST been catheterised having NPU for all that time. No records of any assistance... Input output chart not filled in ... Unacceptable on a CCU . Wasn't given the prescribed anti clotting drugs so had a clot and needed surgery again. Found somebody else's notes at my relatives bedside , so maybe that's why they had assumed my relative had passed urine . On discharge...I found my relative sitting outside next to her bag, in terrible pain, waiting for me ... I asked about meds and follow up and she was unsure. The letter she had was inaccurate.... She has still not received an appointment and this is pretty serious, as she is waiting to hear if she needs chemotherapy !!!!! Very disappointed with nursing care .... Would describe it as shoddy .... Surgeon was fantastic but nurses let this place down. Where has the caring gone ? They were not busy ... I watched as they chatted at the nurses station.
