"Excellent staff"

About: Andover War Memorial Hospital

I recently took my son along with me when I went for a blood test. My son (3yrs) has a neurological condition and has had a number of distressing but necessary experiences with doctors/hospitals (not at Andover). I wanted him to come so he could see that hospitals were "okay". He was very reluctant to go in and a little upset. The staff understood this and went out of their way not only to distract and calm him down but also to then make the experience fun for him. A simple blood test for me but more importantly a much needed positive experience for my son so hopefully the next time he has to go to hospital himself he wont be so scared.

Thank you for comments on NHS Choices. It is always good to get positive feedback from patients and on the quality of care and experience they have in hospital. I will ensure that your kind words are received by the staff involved in your care, who I’m sure, will greatly appreciate your encouraging remarks.
