My son has a diagnosis of pancreatic cancer (family history of early deaths). When he saw the doctor in January 2014 he was promised an operation "within the next 2 months". Finally (mid May) the consultant's secretary confirmed to me on the telephone that his operation will be done on 16th June. She is very pleasant but it has taken me several phone calls and letters to arrive thus far. However, we still cannot get from Admissions a letter with a definite date, where to report, any instructions etc. depite several phone calls and promises of action. My son's job requires forward planning and some paperwork proof. We still do not know if the operation will definitely go ahead or be postponed again. This is causing much stress. I have heard that Hammersmith Hospital has a very good reputation clinically but I find its casual treatment towards my son upsetting as.
