"Made easier for you the patient and your loved ones"

About: Crosshouse Hospital / Clinical haematology Crosshouse Hospital / General Surgery

(as other),

My late husband attended the haematology dept and was well looked after by all the consultants. He had a difficult time before passing. The journey over many years was made so much easier by the doctors and they explain what is your treatment making it easier to cope with all the different treatments. Dr Julie Gillies was a shining star in a dark day and Crosshouse Hospital are so blessed to have Dr Gillies and all the other doctors in that department.

Cancer and its treatment can be a frightening two words. However the whole team at oncology and haematology at Crosshouse Hospital will make your journey to well being or if there is no cure, they will make sure it is made easier for you the patient and your loved ones. I will always be grateful to the consultants but Dr Julie Gillies will have a special place in my heart. My husband affectionately called her curly top. My thank you to the oncology and haematology at Crosshouse Hospital.

I respond initially to most of the posts and ensure they are passed to the appropriate team whether they are compliments, observations or grumbles. It is important to make sure all issues are addressed and I try to encourage that to happen for all the posts as required.

Dear Agnes62,

What a bitter-sweet story to tell. I am so sorry to hear of your husband’s illness and difficulty passing. The journey from a diagnosis of a terminal illness through to bereavement care is an area of health and wellbeing that I have a particular interest in both personally and professionally and its importance must never be underestimated.

On the other hand, I am very pleased that you and your husband got excellent treatment and care throughout this extremely difficult time and I will be delighted to pass your thoughts and thanks to the haematology team and in particular ‘curly top’. It helps staff to know when they have done such a good job.

Thank you so much for taking the time to write this post please take care of yourself.

Kind regards,

Eunice
