"My darling dad"

About: Northern General Hospital

(as a relative),

My dad was admitted to Northern General Hospital with a chest infection and he went from a beautiful loving father to a bag of bones due to dehydration and no food.

He could not stand, walk, go to the toilet or do anything for himself, for example his water jug was just left on his table along with his medication and no nurse gave him a drink or made sure he had his medication as it was still on his table when visiting.

He fell out of bed twice trying to get to the toilet which left him with a broken nose, black eye and stitches. I have a long letter of his stay times and dates of many errors and incorrect information on notes.

I took photo evidence as we put in a complaint but not got anywhere up to now. The photo I have of my dad a week before he went on Brearley Ward and a few days before he died are so heartbreaking. He looks like he's been mistreated and locked away somewhere with no food.

To make matters worse when I went to collect his death certificate and was talking to a coroner who assisted with his post mortem we told them how my dad was 3 weeks previous. The coroner told us to go ahead with a complaint or we would live with regret. Did they see how malnourished my beautiful dad looked I wonder?
