"A&E 8th May"

About: Princess Royal University Hospital (Orpington)

A five and a half hour wait today! What a depressing place. There is a large screen TV which was not on, nothing to keep children occupied while they waited for parents to be seen. There is no way of knowing how long the wait will be when you arrive. The reception staff were particularly unhelpful, when I asked after waiting for 65 mins how long it takes for the results from my scan to be sent over I was told to ask the triage nurse who was talking on the phone for a long time before they even acknowledged I was there! An elderly gentleman was sitting round the corner saying "Help me please help me" and a nurse walked right past and didn't even ask if he was OK. I thought that showed a lack of respect for the patient. I hope I never have to go there again, they obviously make it as uncomfortable as possible to put people off going. Do they really think we want to go into a germ ridden environment and wait for over 5 hours?

I am sorry to hear that you had a lengthy wait and that was made more uncomfortable by the environment and lack of information about waiting times and availability of results. Your comments will be reviewed by the relevant managers and we will seek to undertake action to improve.
