My 16yr old daughter has just been an in-patient in the paediatric ward A21 for 5 days after being admitted as an emergency via PAU. She was under the ENT team. As her mother I stayed with her and slept on the z-bed that was next to her bed. The wards are extremely clean and well run and all the staff I saw rigorously followed infection control procedures. I have rarely seen so much hand washing in a hospital. There is a system of electronic monitoring between the staff and the soap/hand sanitizer dispensers to ensure they are used appropriately. Beds and furniture were also sterilised thoroughly between patients and the toilets were always kept spotless. Every single member of staff treated us both in a very kind, professional, polite and caring manner. Nothing was too much trouble and we felt safe and confident that my daughter was getting the best possible care. The doctors and nurses should be very proud of the standard of care they provide because as everyone knows they do a very important and at times difficult and sometimes thankless job and it is clear that they all do their very best.
