"My daughter's stay in hospital - Gledhow wing"

About: St James's University Hospital

(as a carer),

In November 2008 my 11 month old daughter was admitted to hospital suffering from a urine infection. She was initially admitted for an overnight stay and put under 24 hour observation, but after consideration it was decided that she needed to stay for a total of 4 days. During our time there the medical staff were brilliant. They were always around to help, and ease any concerns we had. My partner and myself were there most of the time, and were always looked after as though we were in fact patients ourselves. I was permitted to stay there 25 hours with her. I had to sleep on a camp bed next to my daughter but it wasn't as bad as I initially thought. Breakfast was really impressive (as were all meals for Eve) They provided us with really good quality products, much like the things we get for her at home. Muller little stars yogurts were always on offer which she loves. Plenty of fresh fruit and veg, which I was shocked about. The hospital food for adults has never been a hit with me so I was pleased we didnt have to worry about that for her. The aftercare was also outstanding. We were given lots of information, about the treatment we were told to give Eve once were were home, and had 3 visits from health workers following the stay.

All in all I would like to thank the staff at the hospital, and would reccommend them to anyone who is in need of treatment for their child.
