I recently had a hysterectomy at Queen's Hospital and would like to thank all the staff: surgeons, anaesthetists and nursing team for the excellent treatment I received. Everyone was only too happy to explain what would happen and to answer questions from both myself and my husband. I am always known by my middle name and having pointed this out, I was put at ease, on entering the theatre, to be greeted by the anaesthetist using this name. Upon waking somewhat groggy a while later, again my request to be called by my middle name was heeded: a small point, but an indicator that thep patient's requests are listened to. I was transferred to Cornflower B and was treated with care and friendliness for the two remaining days of my stay. I had very little discomfort but was regularly monitored to check that all was well. The whole experience was so much better than I had anticipated. The nursing staff have a twelve hour shift where they are kept constantly busy, yet at no time did I see them lose their good humour or fail to deliver what was asked of them. Again, any concerns were dealt with promptly and sympathetically. I am now making an excellent recovery at home thanks to the skill and care of the brilliant Gynae Team. Thank you once again.
"Thank you everyone."
