Just got home from the DTC at Basingstoke. The experience was excellent until the very last moment. My husband and I were kept waiting from 0900 to 1240 for the Pharmacy to deliver the drugs required for me to take home. Another lady in the ward remarked that her husband was kept waiting for 4.5 hours on another occasion for the pharmacy to deliver drugs. There must be a way that the system can be improved:- a. Can patients be given a prescription to take home to their local pharmacy (just as occurs with the GP)? b. Can patients be given an authorisation to go and collect the drugs from the hospital pharmacy? c. Can the current system be reviewed to see how the serviced can be improved? d. Is there a need to increase the staff in the pharmacy? It is a very great pity that Basingstoke continues to be very highly regarded in the community and it is let down in this area.
"Excellent service ruined by Pharmacy..."
