"After finishing I've felt a lot happier"

About: Inclusion Matters Sefton Merseyside

(as the patient),

I wouldn't say I was the most happiest of people but everything changed when my grandad passed away four years ago from three brain tumours. I always close to my grandad. I looked up to him cause he was the closest I had to a dad. I never wanted to say goodbye.

I always had trouble with self-harming but it got worse when I was in school. I used to take a razor to school with me when I was feeling alone. My grandad was the only person I could talk to about anything but he got taken away from me and my family. That was the most darkest path I've ever been on.

One day I finally had another of feeling down about everything and went to the doctors. I was then diagnosed with depression. My doctor sent me off to Inclusion Matters were I got to talk about my problems. After finishing I've felt a lot happier. There's days where I have up and down days but that means you are only human. I take days as they come.

Dear 'abiweedall',

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your story on Patient Opinion.

I'm pleased to hear that we were able to help you during a very dark time. I hope your story will inspire others to speak out and ask for some help.

As you say, up and down days are totally natural, but do make sure you keep using all the skills you learnt in treatment.

I wish you all the best for the future,

Lizzie
