My husband first attended Newquay Hospital for rehabilitation following a fall in which he broke his pelvis in July 2013. His treatment was superb and he returned home able to manage his self help skills and mobility. Ten days ago he was readmitted from Treliske following a deterioration in a heart condition. The hospital provided the greatest care to ensure that his final days were spent in a caring environment. He was kept immaculate and treated with the utmost dignity. Staff helped him to eat a varied diet at a time when he had lost the inclination to eat. This hospital and the staff have achieved the Gold Standard in the care of elderly and at times disorientated patients. They show patience and kindness often reported as lacking in many other hospital. Newquay Community Hospital is an example of excellent practice.
