"The ambience was generally favourable ..."

About: Queen Alexandra Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

The ambience was generally favourable given that the throughput was high.

What could be improved

1. I was very nervous about my angiogram and despte mentioing this all I received was a smile. A sedative would have assisted immesuarably.

2. My times were changed twice, which is alright as one must understand the pressures and changes which can occur, but as I was asked to attend early and was not seen until late, it turned out that the staff had ignored/not read the instructions.

3. The leaving notes refer to a demonstration on how to stop bleeding but this was not demonstrated.

4. although the ambience was favourable the atmosphere was not calm.

Anything else?

My parents were treated very poorly at this hospital and the mother of some old friends had a label, when she grew old and frail, saying "Do not take me to QA". Nothing more needs saying. The whole health care in this substantial population and geographical area is very poor and the nadir is QA. The peoples' wishes are continually ignored by the local commisars.
