"fairoak ward"

About: Cannock Chase Hospital

found the ward understaffed particularly in the evenings when staff have breaks and elderly people get confused and need more supervision. took 15 mins + to answer call bells. regularly saw patients unable to give themselves a drink left for 2 hrs + without fluids. relatives were frowned upon for going in at mealtimes, i thought they should welcome the support. a distinct lack of communication, felt you had to chase them all the time and we noticed documenation not up to date. lack of therapy services at wkends. very poor menu choice soft diet menu didnt alter in 6 wks. some staff were very good, activities on the ward were very good.
