I am a 47 year old with a family history in breast cancer. I did enquiry my GP about a screening over a year ago and his replied was that over here, in the UK (I am an Spanish national living in London for the last 11 years) this test is offer to women from 50 years old onwards. I did say nothing else because I found my GP very obstructive and not keen on listening. Everytime I open my mouth he shuts me out because he feels he loses concentration while he is typing in the PC.
I would appreciate any advice on how to get a test for breast cancer although I am not yet 50 years? My mother died at 57 just after 10 years of her breast cancer surgery. Any advice would be most helpful.
Many thanks
