"consultant didn't even attend"

About: Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust Coventry City Centre Health Facility / Maxillo-Facial surgery

(as the patient),

For the past 3 yrs I have been under max fax doctor at UHCW for jaw problems after many operations my consultant thinks I now need a jaw joint replacement but this cannot be done at UHCW because there is no funding so I was referred to Birmingham,

after a long painful 4month wait I got an appointment with Birmingham dental Hospital. I attended for my appointment and was called by a dentist who told me I would see the consultant later on. he then sent me for x-rays that I thought would be of my jaw as that's why I was there. after waiting for these then waiting again to as I thought see the consultant I was called by the dentist again and told infact the consultant would not be there at all! He then proceeded to do a dental exam and said I would have to wait again for a further appointment! This was a complete waste of time that my husband lost time off work for as we do not live in Birmingham and are not local. after the excellent care in UHCW this has made me worried at the shoddy care I received on my first visit to a Birmingham hospitAl where I am left in pain and no further forward.

Thank you for providing feedback on the experience you have previously had at UHCW in the maxillofacial department.

I am delighted to hear that you describe the care as excellent in the time spent with us and understand that you are now cared for elsewhere due to funding reasons.

The Trust is grateful for all feedback, positive or negative, as it means we can better understand what is important to our patients, and your kind comments will be shared with the relevant staff.

Thank you for leaving your comments on Patient Opinion.
