I had an outpatients appointment at the Cardiology Department on the 9th of April for a scan/ecg/X ray. All carried out efficiently followed by a discussion with a doctor .He said that the results would be sent to my GP so that treatment could be decided. On the 2nd of May I made an appointment with my GP only to find that he had not yet received a letter detailing the results. That is over 3 weeks from the initial appointment. I contacted the Hospital and found that a letter had been typed on the 29th of April and had now been sent a few days later. This is totally unacceptable for me and all the other outpatients.I understand that it is quite common for a 3 week delay between tests and the issue of results to a GP For a high tech. hospital probably doing quite good work it is nonsense for it to fail so spectacularly on the simple task of communicating results. Please sort it out.
