After seeing the GP about a problem with my shoulder I was referred for an ultrasound at Stafford Hospital. I received the referral letter a few days later which gave me lots of information about what to expect and was given an appointment the following week.
I arrived at the hospital and found my way to the department with ease as it was well signposted. I handed my letter to the receptionist and was told where to wait. Even though I had arrived a little bit early I was seen almost immediately.
I was seen by a trainee who introduced herself and was supervised throughout. Both members of staff were friendly and attentive. They did not find anything on the scan but I was told this did not mean that there was nothing wrong, they just hadn't found the problem with this kind of scan, which reassured me that my problem would not be dismissed.
I was advised what would happen next and left, having spent about 20 minutes in the hospital. The whole experience was incredibly positive from seeing the GP right through to leaving the hospital.
I am normally a bit nervous around hospitals so I was glad to have such a good experience.
"Great experience at Stafford Hospital"
