I've been an outpatient in the Rheumatology department since 2011, and it's no exaggeration to say that I owe them everything. I have a relatively rare disease, and after 5 years of symptoms that countless doctors dismissed, I really felt that the Royal Free was my last chance. The difference was obvious immediately - the staff really did listen, and to my enormous relief, I could tell they 'got' it. After a lot of tests I finally got my diagnosis and treatment. I can't thank everyone there enough. These autoimmune diseases can cause devastating damage, and I've been pretty ill since then, but thanks to this clinic, the disease is now under control and I can lead a relatively normal life. The only downside is that the clinic can be very busy, so sometimes you're not seen on time - absolutely worth it, but best be prepared for a wait.
