"Disgusting treatment of elderly"

My mother, aged almost 91, was taken into Hereford with severe pain and violent diarrhoea which she had been having for some days. She suffers fromemphysema, reduced kidney function and had not long been discharged after a major operation. She was initially admitted for an x ray to find out the cause of the pain. After many hours I was called and told she would be kept in, this was at 9pm. I was also told there was no transport. At 10pm a staff nurse rang me and was very aggressive and said as the x ray had come back clear could I come and collect her. I explained that not only could I not do that as I had had a few glasses of wine (the staff nurse seemed to think it was OK to encourage me to break the law) but I said that I was unhappy at my Mum being discharged as she could not stand or walk and had nobody at home to look after her. Next morning having assumed she had been kept in, I discovered they had brought her home at 2am and dumped her in a freezing cold house alone, and despite the fact that she was faecally incontinent (including all the way home in the ambulance) nobody had given her any anti diarrhoea medication. I drove round there and found her in a terrible state having been unable to get to the toilet all night, shivering and extremely distressed. I realise there is a shortage of beds but this lack of care for a very elderly and sick lady is disgusting. I will be making an official complaint.
