"Asked to suggest my own drugs"

I never knew that patients can suggest drugs! My CPN arranged an appointment at Millbrook AMH as she felt my medication needed reviewing and possibly increasing for my depression.

At my appointment, I was told I was on the maximum dose of my current prescribed medication and I was asked if I had heard or seen anything on the television that I would like to try! I am not a specialist and I don't know what drugs could help me.

I was sent home with no change to medication and asked to have a 1 months appointment, but no appointments are available until the end of July. Fortunately, I had one for the end of June, which had not been cancelled, with this appointment being brought forward.

I'm glad my husband was with me, as I am sure had I gone on my own no one would have believed me that I was asked to suggest my own medication. When I told my CPN about this she said I would be pleased to know that the consultant had gone on holiday. I have now written to request a change of consultant, I wonder if I had asked for crack cocaine if it would have been prescribed!

I feel in limbo, dumped, and that nobody cares any more.
