"The cleanliness of the ward(Barn) ..."

About: Worthing Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked The cleanliness of the ward(Barn) was outstanding couldnt fault the cleaners between them did an outstanding job in making sure the ward was clean Bank staff on the ward were amazing if only they could of been instead of the normal staff Play room on barn ward-good selection of games and toys for teens What could be improved? -Staff attitude on the ward-they were rude and arrogant, lazy and uncaring often could see them playing games on the internet, reading the newspaper and on numerous occasions did not respond when requesting for help by prezzing the buzzer by my bedside. -communications-after being Admitted into hospital(from the out of hours doctors service within the hospital) for severe dehydration once on the ward had to wait 8 ! hours to be seen by a doctor due to lack of communications between the departments. -I am disgusted by the staff on the ward I was only ever offered food about twice after being there a week and relied of the help of family of friends when it came to meals. -Lack of staff-staffing seemed to be a big problem only ever two members of staff on duty at night and one night there was only one member off staff working so someone from the maternity unit had to come and help. -Nursing-think the majority of staff on Barn ward need to be a learnt a lesson or two about Nursing that it also means caring for the person aswell, and making them feel as comftable as possible during there stay but this did not happen on Barn ward many occasions the nurse's would come in and change the drip bag etc without saying a word and then walk out again they did the very Bare minimum -Uniform-at night the staff often did not wear the correct uniform eg wore a hoddie over the top of there uniform which was was frighting at night to wake up and see someone in the room that was not regonisable by the uniform instanatly. When I was discharged I was given medicine to clear an infection yet to be phoned a few weeks later by my GP to be told I had been given the incorrect medicine and still had an infection. my overall care was definatly below satisfactory not the first time either after I was wrongly diagnosed with Diabetes 3 years ago by the staff at worthing hospital diabetes centre and still have not recieved an apology after injecting myself with insulin for 3 years unnesseraly Anything else? Although this is my local hospital I will not wanting to be using it again and would be prepared to travel futher a feild if It meant being able to recieve better treatment then what I have experianced at worthing hospital
