Since having a heart by-pass in early January of this year nothing prepares you for the mental battle that lays ahead. Physically the operation is difficult enough however your fragile state of mind about what to expect is equally as difficult.
I was however very fortunate to be placed into the hands of the care team at Brickfields in Plymouth. These people consisting of Julie, Amy, Jackie and Emily who directly cared for me I can only describe as modern day saints!
They were sensitive to my situation and from day one guided me and allowed me to find my feet as well as at the same time building my confidence and self esteem to its previous level.
Their knowledge and professionalism is exceptional, always treating you with dignity and care however they inject and large element of fun into the sessions and you leave each week in a different frame of mind embracing the challenges ahead.
I will be eternally grateful to the surgeons for saving my life however in my opinion this team needs to be recognised in equal status as they get you back on your feet and educate you on how to save your own life going forward.
I will truly miss them however will never forget them, the work they do is essential however they way they do it is a truly amazing.
Thank you all so much!
