The nurses work very hard but there are no ''Handovers'' so that a nurse only knows about his/her patient each day .. If a relative phones for information they will receive non if that particular nurse is not available -ensuing numerous calls that is if in fact the phone is actually answered! Consultants are not based on the Ward and language problems with junior doctors are horrendous. I am a senior Dr in another part of the Country and am absolutely appalled at the failures of communication on this unit . Doctors and Nurses are leaving themselves open to Litigation by failing to ensure adequate continuity of care, and supervision by Senior Consultants. I am an articulate Professional who is not afraid to criticise !
